Second Dive Trip to Tioman.

29/05/2009
2010 hours: Reached "The Dive Company" to settle our bills.

2020 hours: 9 people boarded the van including the dive instructor and dive master, the journey to Tioman begins.

2210 hours: Reached the same resting spot as our first dive trip where we had our supper, and once again we got beer into the van to drink.

30/05/2009
0005 hours: Arrived at the Mersing Jetty.

0020 hours: Boat revved up its engine and we're off to Tioman.

0230 hours: A peaceful quiet beach emerged from the darkness, we have reached Tioman's Paya beach.

0330 hours: After settling our rooms, Norman and I were in the same room as a french man who spoke fluent English with a heavy British accent. Well Norman wasn't very happy as Fabio (the french man) just loved to complain about everything. An example would be when he realized that we were sharing a room together and not individualised rooms, he started complaining saying how good it was in Bali where he had his individualised rooms. Then before we went to bed, I turned on the air condtioning and he went like, "Are you serious? You're okay with breathing air in an enclosed room? Where is the fresh air?" Well, we were nice people so we left the door open for him so that he could have his fresh air, but sleeping that night was horribly hot. I found him to be a pain in the ass at times but most of the time I took his complains as such utter jokes, seeing him in his misery was very funny.

0730 hours: Woke up and headed for breakfast.

0830 hours: Heavy rain poured with very strong wind, the first dive seemed gloomy.

0930 hours: Waited for the boat to arrive while Norman and I freezed in the wind without our shirt on. Our bright idea of trying to keep our shirt dry.

1038 hours: Jumped into the water at Tomok dive site. We did our Peak Performance Buoyancy test there where we made a dive of 9.1m and a bottom time of 41 minutes.

1119 hours: Got back on the boat and headed back to Paya beach for lunch.

1345 hours: After lunch we headed back to the boat for our dive in Soyak.

1432 hours: Hit the water for our Drift Diving activity. We went down at a depth of 12.8m and lasted for 49 minutes.

1521 hours: Got out of the water and the boat brought us to the next dive site called Labas.

1647 hours: Reached Labas dive site and jumped in for our Navigation test. We hit a depth of once again 12.8m and had a bottom time of 54 minutes.

1741 hours: Got out of water and the boat brought us back to Paya beach for a transfer of boat before we head out once again to Tomok for our night dive test.

1935 hours: Sky turned dark, we jumped into darkness, absolute unfamiliarity. With our torches as our life rope, we made our way down to 9.7m and had a bottom time of 29 minutes. It was an awesome experience.

2000 hours: Rushed to dinner with our starving stomachs. While having dinner, we spotted the French man making his moves on three German chicks and we were betting if he would get laid that night.

2100 hours: After bathing we went back to the restaurant to enjoy the night activities. Caught the Chelsea VS Everton match while drinking Hoegarden. After a while Fabio brought the three German ladies to join us.

31/05/2009
0010 hours: Norman and I went to play pool with Rafi and Ian while Fabio continued to flirt with the three Germans.

0100 hours: Left Fabio there with the ladies then headed back to our rooms to sleep.

0730 hours: Norman woke up to check if Fabio got laid and to our disappointment, he was sleeping soundly in the room without a lady.

0815 hours: After our quick breakfast, we got onto the boat and headed to Marine Park where we did our deep diving test.

0900 hours: Jumped in and made our way down to 10m and followed the slope of the seabed down to 24m. On the way down to 24m, we passed three marvelous wrecks filled with corals and beautiful little fishes. We lasted 48 minutes underwater.

0948 hours: Got out of water to head to the final and most beautiful dive site of all, Renggis.

1035 hours: Reached Renggis and I jumped into the water forgetting to turn my gas on, good thing Norman was there to help me turn it on in the water.

1055 hours: At a depth of 10.3m, the reef of Renggis is amazing, filled with untouched corals and a vast amount of fish. Just before we hit the current flow, we saw something white at the belly and grey on the top... I screamed in the water for awhile, out of excitement, it was a black tip reef shark!! I was so happy that we could finally see a shark face to face. I was so happy that I started chasing it.

1120 hours: Got out of the water, I swam beside the Fabio and asked him, "So did you see the shark?" He went, "Shark? What Shark? You guys saw a shark?? Oh my god, I can't believe I missed it! Damn how could I have missed it??" Well, I didn't tell him why he missed it but I think I have a rough idea how he did, I chased it away haha... Good thing he was the only one that didn't see it.

1230 hours: We got back to Paya beach, Norman and I went swimming near the jetty and ended up tiring ourselves to the core.

1330 hours: Had a delicious lunch before heading for a trail walk guided by Norman, which we kind of regretted doing as we ended up perspiring like we just came out of a steam bath.

1430 hours: Met up with Rafi and Ian for our certificates and log book chops.

1500 hours: Ferry came, time to head back to Mersing.

1645 hours: Reached Mersing, had a break before heading back into the van where we went back straight to Singapore.

2045 hours: Reached Singapore.

2115 hours: Reached NUS.

2130 hours: Norman's mother came to pick us up.

2145 hours: Home sweet home, but I miss Tioman so much.
