Of mobile phones... 3.5G. One phone that I eyed on for quite a while has finally reached my hands via a delivery man that came onto my doorstep at this very time. It is the mobile phone that made computers what they are today, the N95. 5 mega pixel camera, HSDPA, GPS, GPRS, Infra-red, Bluetooth, Wifi, good resolution, what more can I ask for? Simply lovely.

The last time I stepped foot into Malaysia, I had first hand experience with a huge news, the worst flood in Kuala Lumpur. Was one hell of an experience on that wet wet day of June 12. This time round, taking another journey back to Malaysia in a bus filled with people of ages not less than 50 other than me, my mum and my cousin Tiffany. The three of us accompanied my grandmother, the main reason for the trip was to taste the durians. Apparently neither one of us knew where they tour agency was taking us to taste the durians, only till we reached the location did that name became familiar to me. Going for this trip never was about tasting durians for me, I never had a thing for food though I love expensive buffets and classy restaurants. This trip for me, was more of an escape out of Singapore to have a break from civilisation, this "break" that I longed for didn't seemed to turn out the way I expected.
0530 Hours
Got up reluctantly from bed after 5 hours of bad sleep.
0620 Hours
Left home, went to fetch my cousin before reaching the Outrum bus stop.
0715 Hours
The coach leaves the Outrum bus stop, fetching other passengers at other locations before reaching Tuas checkpoint.
0900 Hours
Stopped by a small coffee shop for some light breakfast. (The food didn't taste good at all)
1000 Hours
We were in the bus, on the way to the durian location. It was fortunate to have my cousin going as well, if not I would have got really bored over the tour guide's extremely lame jokes. Both of us talked through the entire trip, made time pass rather quickly.
1230 Hours
The time that we arrived at the durian location. Apparently it is the place where most NCC boys would go to hike, the place is called Gunung Ledang. Gunung Ledang is a hill that allows outdoor junkies to roam, hike or relax. However, I find that place a big turn off. I myself am a nature guy that loves the forests and beaches but when I got there, I wondered where all the nature conservation team went. Stepping into the lobby of the 'resort', we were greeted with a swarm of flies but there was a fleeting smell of durian coming from every direction. We were guided to a place to have a seat and were served with plentiful of unopened durians. Every durian that we were given was different in taste, that was one unique thing that I liked about. The sweet and bitterness of the durian tastes didn't last very long, my time in having the pleasure of enjoying it was ruined by the constant flies that kept trying to stick themselves on every durian that we have on the table. So, instead of just simply enjoying the durians, we were literally waving our hands while we ate. In this case, I was immediately turned off. No matter how delicious the durian tasted, my appetite for it just went rock bottom.
1400 Hours
After having the durians and replenishing ourselves with water, we went for a short hike up Mount. Ophir. There were many Malays there, having picnics and BBQs in the forest, there was even a band blasting rock music. A stream that flows from the top of the mountain ends up becoming a play pool for the citizens there, destroying its beauty and its cleanliness. It was a very sad sight in my perspective.

Though I had a camera, I didn't bother taking much pictures as the scenery was just plainly, destroyed.

1500 Hours
Reached back down to the lobby where we had some really awful coffee.
1540 Hours
Set off back in the direction of Singapore.
1715 Hours
"Hey look! Black smoke! Wait, it is a car! No, wait, it is a bus! The bus is on fire!" some loudspoken lady shouted. Everyone looked up ahead to discover that a bus was burning. The aft of the bus was engulfed in flames and that was the location of the engine. I stared at it fearing the worst as I knew that our bus was about to pass by it with just a metre away from the flames. I took out my camera to get a shot but the image turned out blurred.

As our bus went pass the flames, I could feel the heat on my cheeks eventhough I was kept safely in an air-conditioned bus. The passengers of that torched bus were all standing around the highway, just waiting for help. (The next day, this incident turned up on the front page of the straits times online.)

1735 Hours
Arrived at a shopping complex. There was nothing much there.
1840 Hours
Went for dinner at a chinese restaurant, the food was good but there was a lot of self service going on.
2100 Hours
Finally, we set off for Singapore. My thought of escaping a day for a break turned out making me miss home even more. Well, it sure was dirty, smelly, tiring but it was a good experience and a good opportunity to spend time with Tiffany who studies in the states, had really little time to talk to her.
2300 Hours
Arrived back to the Outrum bus stop where my grandfather was waiting there to bring us home.
0000 Hours
Reached back home. My day ends.
